Viktor Gyökeres has insisted that he’s happy at Sporting amid recent claims linking him with a move to Chelsea in the winter market.
Earlier this week, Record stated the Lions have already rejected a €85m bid from the Blues, who may return with an improved offer, to get closer to the striker’s €100m release clause.
On Thursday, the 25-year-old scored a brace in his side’s 5-2 win over Vizela. After the tie he spoke to Sport TV, and he was asked about Chelsea’s interest.
His quotes are relayed by Record.
“I don’t think anything about it. I’m here and we have important games to play, I’m focused on that,” he said.
“There’s a lot of talk on social media and elsewhere, but I’m not focused on that. I don’t think about anything else. I’m here right now. I’m 100% focused on this and the club.”
With the player making it clear that he’s happy at Sporting, a potential deal is unlikely to take shape this month.
Sporting signed Gyökeres from Coventry City last summer and handed him a deal until 2028. The Sweden international has enjoyed a good start to his life in Portugal, scoring 22 goals and registering 10 assists from 25 games this season.
O Jogo have also relayed more comments from the frontman and when asked if this is the ‘best time’ of his career, Gyökeres explained: “Yes, but it’s far from over. We can’t enjoy it too much, but it’s been good so far. We’re playing well as a team.”
