Newcastle United star Bruno Guimarães isn’t looking for any rest this summer, despite the long season he had with the Magpies.
The midfielder this week spoke to the Brazilian media in the United States, and was asked how he seems so fresh after an intense year in England.
Bruno Guimarães explained he has a whole team helping him with his physical situation at Newcastle, saying he’s made a special effort to be with the national team. The quotes come from UOL.
“I don’t even know. It’s a lot of training, investment in equipment to help me after matches, I have physiotherapy, a nutritionist. That makes a difference. I played 62 games this season, my record. It’s been hard to recover from that, but it’s a worthwhile effort to be in the team. In the Premier League every game is very intense. Off the pitch it’s important to recover well, eat well, sleep well,” said Bruno Guimarães.
Now despite how intense things have been for him, he doesn’t want to miss Brazil’s final group stage match against Colombia. Even if that risks him being suspended for the quarter-finals.
“Dorival, if he’s going to spare people, don’t spare me because I want to play. I’m always hungry, I want to be on the pitch. If I get a card I’m out for the quarter-finals, so I don’t know what will happen.”
Tuesday’s game against Colombia is actually very important for Brazil, because a win is the only way they get first place in the group, and theoretically an easier path in the knock-out stage.
Following another good season at Newcastle, Bruno has been having an important role with the national team.
