With Raul Jimenez not getting any minutes in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ match against Everton at the weekend, the Mexican media has had a lot to say about that.
Since the striker is expected to leave Wolves at the end of the season, that may have been his last chance to feature in front of their fans at Molineux.
The Mexican media didn’t take it easy on Julen Lopetegui for leaving Jimenez out of the game. And when commenting on the situation, Fox Sports journalist Ruben Rodriguez had strong claims to make.
The pundit said Wolves’ staff is responsible for the striker not having a full recovery, and claimed the national team has been taking better care of him.
“What Lopetegui doesn’t say, I’ll tell you first hand, is that the Wolves medical staff were prescribing Raul wrong. Instead of helping him, they complicated his injury, the pubalgia. The man who really rescues Raul physically is in the Mexican national team.
“That’s why Raul said ‘Here I am moving forward’ that it is Carlos Pecanha, the chiropractor of the Mexican national team, the one who has treated Guardado, Raul, Ochoa, the one who has treated everyone. Thanks to him, Raul is playing football.”
The journalist also had a say on the striker’s future, talking about the possibilities for the summer window.
“There was talk of America. The issue is salary. Raul earns more than four or five [million dollars].”
Jimenez’s situation, however, makes us recall some quotes from Wolves striker Sasa Kalajdzic. He also missed most of the season because of injury, and when speaking to the Austrian media, he praised the club for working hard to find out the root cause of what was wrong with him.
Kalajdzic seemed genuinely impressed and compared Wolves favourably to previous medical treatment he’d had. So that’s the opposite situation to what the Mexican media is now reporting.
