Atalanta have completed the signing of Kamaldeen Sulemana from Southampton for a fee in the region of €17m.

The Serie A club’s latest arrival has been given a four year contract, with the option of a further season, as he begins a new journey in Italy alongside his former manager at Southampton, Ivan Juric.

Sulemana played 30 times across all competitions for the Saints, scoring twice and assisting on three occasions. However, his side had a hugely disappointing season in the Premier League, finishing 20th on just 12 points.

Corriere della Sera report on Sulemana’s reaction to becoming an Atalanta player, and there’s obviously added excitement given he’ll get to compete in the Champions League.

The former Southampton player “can’t wait to get started” at La Dea, and is further quoted as saying: “I’m happy and proud to be here, I can’t wait to start. I just visited the sports centre, it’s a truly impressive structure, there’s a lot to do here, I’m enthusiastic, I’ll always sweat for the shirt.”

Atalanta are at the start of a new beginning following the departure of their beloved manager Gian Piero Gasperini. The Italian coach was in charge of the Bergamo club for nine years and guided them to Europa League success just over a year ago.

The Ghana international is excited ahead of the next campaign as he kicks off his new adventure with enthusiasm.
