Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has downplayed rumours about a return to Brazil, insisting he has had no contact with any club.
Speaking to Revista Placar, the forward reaffirmed his long-term admiration for Palmeiras but made it clear his current focus remains on Arsenal.
“There was never contact with another club,” Jesus said. “My wish, as I always say, is to return to Palmeiras. And Palmeiras also want me to come back.”
The Brazilian has recently resumed training after nine months out with a serious knee injury. He admitted that it is still too early to think about a transfer, especially after such a long recovery period.
“When I feel it’s the right time to go back to Palmeiras, I’ll decide that with Arsenal,” he explained. “But we’re talking about a player who has been out for nine months and is now fighting to return to the team. Some journalists speak without any basis.”
Gabriel Jesus also ruled out any chance of leaving Arsenal in January. “After such a complex surgery, it makes no sense for me to leave the club now,” he stated.
During his rehabilitation, the 28-year-old spent part of his Premier League off-season in Brazil and used Palmeiras’ training centre to continue his recovery.
Now, after nearly a year away from the pitch, his attention is fully on regaining fitness and reclaiming a place in Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side.
