Nottingham Forest striker Igor Jesus is enjoying an impressive first season in the Premier League, and his form has already sparked discussion about a possible Brazil call-up.

Speaking to TNT Sports in an interview with Brazilian journalist Fred Caldeira, the 25-year-old addressed his adaptation to English football and the impact he has made at Nottingham Forest so far.

The forward has become a regular starter at the City Ground. He currently leads the club’s scoring charts this season in all competitions with 12 goals and has also provided 4 assists. That form has helped Nottingham Forest collect vital points as they keep gaining ground in the Europa League and battle to stay clear of the Premier League relegation zone.

What Nottingham Forest Player Said

During the interview, Igor Jesus acknowledged that settling quickly in England was never guaranteed. However, he believes the preparation before the move helped him hit the ground running.

“It’s not easy to arrive in your first season here and adapt,” he said with a laugh. “Doing a great job like this makes me happy because I prepared so much so that when I arrived I could do a great job. And I think I’ve been doing that very well. I’m happy, and everyone at the club is happy with the performances I’ve been having.”

Nottingham Forest have relied heavily on his energy and movement up front. His goals have arrived at key moments in a difficult campaign. As a result, he has quickly become one of the most important players in their survival push.

Big Brazil aims for future

Naturally, good form in the Premier League often leads to questions about the Brazil national team. Igor Jesus was previously called up, and TNT asked whether he has maintained contact with the Seleção staff.

The striker made it clear that there has been no recent communication. Instead, he remains focused on his work at Nottingham Forest.

“To be honest, I just keep doing my job here,” he explained. “I haven’t had any kind of contact. I believe they watch all the matches and, if it’s God’s will, everything will happen in the best way.”

For now, Nottingham Forest will simply be pleased with the impact he has made in England. A striker adapting quickly to the Premier League can be the difference between survival and relegation.

Analysis: Igor Jesus rise

Igor Jesus

From Nottingham Forest’s perspective, Igor Jesus’ first season has been excellent. The Brazilian has adapted quickly to the pace and intensity of the Premier League. Just as importantly, he has delivered goals during a crucial period in the club’s campaign.

That said, the Brazil picture is complicated. The national team currently has several centre-forwards performing at a high level.

Igor Thiago continues to impress in Europe, Endrick remains one of the country’s biggest attacking talents, and João Pedro is also producing strong performances. Also, Ancelotti really likes Richarlison, despite him not living his best moment at Tottenham.

Because of that depth, even a strong Premier League season may not guarantee a World Cup place. It was the case in November’s international break.

Still, Igor Jesus has placed himself firmly on the radar. If his form continues, Nottingham Forest could soon have a player pushing hard for Brazil recognition.
