Mads Bidstrup has featured 14 times in all competitions for Brentford since joining them from RB Leipzig in 2020.
This includes four appearances in the Premier League, which came in the first half of the 2021/22 season.
At the start of this year, Brentford let the midfielder join FC Nordsjælland on a loan deal until the end of last term.
The 21-year-old signed a new contract with the Bees in the summer and then returned to the Danish club on a season-long loan deal. He has been able to enjoy regular game time with Nordsjælland, having made 10 league appearances to date.
This week’s edition of Tipsbladet have published a long interview with the Denmark U21 international. Bidstrup is now enjoying life at Nordsjælland, after going through a tough time earlier in his short career.
“That’s a good question. I’ve had a bit of a turbulent career so far and I’ve found that playing time means a lot, having a role means a lot. I’m very keen to be myself all the way and I really want to feel where I trust that I can develop the most,” he said.
Bidstrup’s contract with Thomas Frank’s side expires in 2024 and is not clear as to where he will play next season. The Dane is ready to make himself available to his parent club if they need his services.
“But where it will be in the [next] summer, I can’t answer that right now. There is still a long time to go,” the Brentford owned explained.
“Of course, that’s [regular game time] also a factor you have to take into account. The Premier League is a tough place and it’s just difficult.”
“But I’m under contract at Brentford and if they say they need me, then it’s clear that I’m available, but I also know how difficult it is, and as I said, it’s important for me to play, and therefore it’s also important for me that I be myself all the way. And then I have to make the decision when we get there.”
