Middlesbrough assistant manager David Selini has admitted it would be good if Anes Mravac were to join them in the North East.
Fotboll Direkt have comments from him on the matter today. Mravac has been linked with a move to Middlesbrough since November.
A report at the end of the month indicated he could become a part of Kim Hellberg’s team at the club. The Swede then admitted to contact with his former colleagues.
He then further stirred the transfer pot in recent days, admitting it would be a dream to move to Middlesbrough at some point.
Fotboll Direkt now pick up the trail and say it’s unclear what will be happening with Mravac in the near future. His interim period as Malmo manager has now come to an end.
According to Expressen, he is expected to make the move to Middlesbrough at some point. That would see him reunite with Hellberg and Selini at the club.
Middlesbrough move looks a matter of days
For now, nothing has been made official. But all signs at this moment in time are pointing to the Riverside stadium for him. Selini isn’t going to add fuel to the fire directly but would certainly be open to the idea despite that.
“Anes is a person who gave me a chance to even enter this world,” he said.
“He is a person I have the absolute greatest respect for. He took a chance on me when he didn’t need to, which I appreciate enormously.
“It’s partly that he is a very good person with whom I have a good relationship. Then he is also a very good football coach who has the ideas we have about training and how football should be played.
“It was also very successful in how we worked to develop players when we were in Värnamo. He is a person and coach that I have a lot of respect for and that I hope to be able to work with again in the future.
“There is nothing official and I don’t know what is going on there. If he comes here, it will be very good. And if he doesn’t come here, I hope to be able to work with him in the future.”
Right now, Anes Mravac is on vacation. If in a couple of weeks he’s still not at Middlesbrough it would be a surprise.
