Over the past few days, we’ve seen an increasing growing number of stories suggesting clubs are actively looking at Watford’s situation now that the Hornets have been relegated to the Championship.

Some of their players will have no intention of featuring in England’s second-tier after so many years in the top flight, among which is likely to be Gerard Deulofeu.

The winger has been one of their star performers over the past few years, helping them reach an FA Cup final not too long ago, and he’s now thinking about heading somewhere else, according to Calciomercato.it.

He even has a specific destination in mind, which is Milan, a club he has spent time at in the past when he was sent there by Everton to get extra game time back in 2017.

Deulofeu thoroughly enjoyed his time there, and ‘the idea of returning is making headway’, and ‘in the event that the discussions should become concrete, a loan with a view to buy could arise’.

So far, however, there have only been ‘preliminary contacts between the parties, to be explored, possibly in the coming weeks’ for the Watford man.

Calciomercato.it then end by saying ‘the Deulofeu track to Milan is to be followed with extreme attention’.

That’s what we’ll do, and it’ll be interesting to see where the Spaniard, currently injured, does end up once the transfer window closes.
