Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk has insisted that he would want to sign Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes this summer, as both a coach and a fan.

Sports Digitale relay comments from the Galatasaray coach today. He was asked about signing either the Manchester United star or Can Uzun this summer.

Galatasaray coach is clear

Sports Digitale explain that he was first asked “as a fan, would you want Bruno Fernandes or Can Uzun?” to which his reply was “as a fan, I’d want both”.

The Galatasaray coach was then then asked, “as a coach, which one would want?” and his reply was unequivocal once again, “I’d want both. Coaches always want both,” he added.

The question is whether Bruno Fernandes is even remotely attainable for Galatasaray this summer. The initial response would be no given his importance to Michael Carrick’s team last season.

But that has not stopped the Turkish side from dreaming. Sport Witness covered a report in April explaining how they were plotting a big move for the 31-year-old this summer. It was made clear that the Portuguese star was very much ‘on the agenda’.

A second report, at the end of June, explained that Galatasaray were still plotting a big move. But another problem had emerged to block their attempts. Bruno Fernandes is not particularly keen on a move to Türkiye at this point.

€35m valuation

Then there is the question of money. Bruno Fernandes is currently in the final year of his deal at Old Trafford, but there’s an option for a further year. Manchester United are unlikely to let him go on the cheap.

The likes of Transfermarkt currently value him at €35m, which would make him Galatasaray’s second most expensive purchase ever. However, that’s unlikely to be a fee Manchester United would consider.

Fernandes is, simply, worth more to them than that on the pitch. Okan Buruk, though, has made his stance clear. He’d welcome his as both a coach and a fan.
