With Romelu Lukaku potentially leaving Chelsea at the end of the season, the Italian media continues to push for his return to Inter Milan.

In recent days, some rumours have even been claiming that Tottenham Hotspur could join the race for the striker, but his comeback to the Nerazzurri continues to be a hot topic, with many journalists believing he still has a place at the Serie A side.

The latest comments were now made by former Inter Milan player Benoit Cauet, who was interviewed by CMIT TV, and pointed out that besides being useful for the Italian club, the Chelsea forward would also be welcomed by his former teammates.

“I’d take him back immediately because he’s a player who did very well at Inter from the beginning until the last game. He has always helped the team,” said Cauet.

“If he were to return, I think he’d be very well received. It’d also be an advantage because he would already know them and he would be ready to reintegrate immediately. Lukaku would serve a lot, without doubts.”

Not having a great relationship with manager Thomas Tuchel, Lukaku has scored 12 goals since his return to Chelsea, with only five of them being in the Premier League.

Recent reports from Italy said his agent would rather see him joining Tottenham, although it seems Inter Milan will still try to seduce the player ahead of a comeback.
