Youri Tielemans isn’t thinking about leaving Aston Villa even though some have backed him to join Real Madrid.

Sporza visited the Belgium international in Birmingham for an interview. Last month, their analyst Filip Joos said he already sees the Aston Villa star at Real Madrid. He explained the midfielder is a combination of former Real Madrid star duo of Toni Kroos and Luka Modrić.

The 28-year-old arrived at Villa Park on a free transfer after spending over four years at Leicester City. He recently explained Unai Emery made a visit to convince him to join Aston Villa.

Tielemans took a while to get going at the Premier League side before cementing a place under Emery. He’s been a regular at Villa Park, and his performances have apparently caught the attention of other clubs.

Earlier this month, journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported interest from Saudi Arabia. However, the Belgian didn’t consider leaving Aston Villa for the Middle East.

Sporza brought up Joos’ earlier remarks about Real Madrid. They suggest he’s ‘outgrown Aston Villa’s level’ and that the club’s supporters fear losing him. When responding to that, Tielemans says he’d noticed the analyst’s comments.

“I also received that statement from Filip Joos. (laughs) They’re nice words from him, but I’ve never been there [Real Madrid]. So, I wouldn’t know what it’s like there,” he said.

“For me, Aston Villa is already the top. We’re already performing at a high level and have the ambition to reach even higher. I’m really not thinking about anything else at the moment.”

Aston Villa star would consider transfer

The midfielder has over two years left on his contract. Although he isn’t thinking of an exit now, the Belgian isn’t closing the door on a transfer.

“If something came my way, I would definitely consider it. Things can go fast in football. But my agent is responsible for that. I try not to think about it too much myself,” Tielemans explained.

He’s also not ruling out a return to Anderlecht, but doesn’t want to give people “false hope”.
