Following all the recent rumours which have stated Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Albert Gudmundsson from Genoa, the player has spoken about his future.
Interviewed by Il Secolo XIX, with quotes relayed by Sport Mediaset, the player sounded like he was coming to the end of a short era.
“I will always be grateful to Genoa and its fans. I continue to think about match after match, I enjoy every moment on the pitch trying to entertain the fans as well,” said Gudmundsson.
As Sport Mediaset covers the quotes, and state it sounded like a goodbye, they claim Genoa are willing to trigger a ‘real auction’ for Gudmundsson in the summer, and currently demand at least €40m. Despite the interest from Juventus and Inter Milan, it’s said it’s Tottenham who are ‘above all’ in this chase.
The links between Spurs and Gudmundsson have been frequent, with the Italian media recently claiming that it’s the London side ‘moving the most’ to get the transfer done. Since they recently signed Radu Dragusin from Genoa, it’s expected that the clubs’ good relationship would favour that new move.
The striker is only valued by Transfermarkt at Gudmundsson €22m, but it’s really Tottenham’s participation in the battle that makes his club try to make as much as possible from the sale.
