Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai has admitted he was left exhausted in the 2-2 draw with Portugal.

Blikk have comments from the Liverpool midfielder today following the draw in World Cup qualifying yesterday.

It proved to be a back-and-forth clash between the two sides. Hungary took the lead in the 8th minute before a double from Cristiano Ronaldo had the home side in front at the break.

They held that until the 91st minute when the Liverpool star popped up at the back post to convert and earn his side a point. It was a big, last-minute save from him in what Hungary consider to be their toughest qualifying match so far.

It was a big moment, particularly for the Liverpool man, who had started the game and also bagged an assist with the opening goal.

Anyone watching the highlights will perhaps notice that he was slightly struggling to get on the end of the cross from which he scored. And the 24-year-old is willing to admit that he was absolutely exhausted by that point in the game.

“I am proud of the whole team, how we fought and drove throughout the entire match,” he said.

“We started well. Then there was a slight decline, but we didn’t go any further. But we pulled ourselves together and managed to get out of it. As the whole team ran the match, as the substitutions started, I can only say positive things.

“I was so tired that I couldn’t go short anymore, so I was hoping that the ball would go long. The guys on the right side did it well, Luki, when he came on, played amazingly on the wing. And yes, if you fight for it, then luck is on your side.

“I don’t know how many legs the ball got to me, but in the end, I was able to kick it. The whole time I was thinking that after such a start, such a march couldn’t end like this. So, we are happy that we were able to get that one point from here. We are preparing for November.”
