CD Atlético Baleares manager Luis Blanco says he’s pleased that Leeds United’s Mateo Joseph joined RCD Mallorca last summer.

The coach spoke to Deportes Cope Baleares to discuss a few topics related to his side. Towards the end, he talked about the Leeds United owned player.

The 22-year-old went on a strike to secure a move away from Leeds United. Real Betis were confident of acquiring his signature but failed to agree terms with the Whites. This allowed Mallorca to swoop in and sign him on a dry loan deal in August.

Joseph spent over four years at Espanyol’s academy before leaving them for Leeds United in January 2022.

During his time at Espanyol, he trained under Blanco’s orders. The manager is delighted to see Joseph back in Spain.

“A very good lad and a very good player. I was happy he returned to the Spanish league after a few years at Leeds. He went there while he was with us at Espanyol,” he said.

The Leeds United player has scored two goals and contributed two assists from 12 La Liga matches this season.

Last month, Última Hora reported Mallorca are confident he’ll ‘explode’. The frontman has asked for patience so that he can showcase his worth. Blanco has now backed him to succeed.

“A phenomenal lad with excellent qualities for a striker: intuitive, very powerful. I think he can be a great asset to RCD Mallorca’s attack,” Blanco explained.

Two days ago, Futbol des de Mallorca reported the Spanish club want to extend Joseph’s loan stay for another year. Leeds United have a decision to make next summer.
