Bournemouth star Justin Kluivert has admitted he always keeps an eye on former club Roma, regularly reminiscing about his time there.

Cronache di Spogliatoio have an interview with the forward this week, in which he discusses his old club. Tuttomercatoweb relay his comments.

Kluivert joined the Italian side in 2018, initially joined in an €18.75m deal from Ajax after coming through at the Dutch club.

He never settled in the Italian capital, though, and by 2020 had joined RB Leipzig on loan. More loan deals followed as he spent temporary time with Nice and Valencia too. He  eventually left on a permanent basis in 2023.

He joined Bournemouth in a €10.8m deal that summer. He hasn’t looked back since, firmly establishing himself under Andoni Iraola in particular.

His time at Roma could be considered something of a failure. He managed just nine goals and 10 assists in 68 games far from what he or Roma were hoping for.  It seems, though, that he has no ill feelings towards them.

In fact, he’s keeping a close eye on them from Bournemouth as they compete for the Serie A title under Gian Piero Gasperini this season.

“Every now and then, I look at photos from that period on my phone and say, ‘Mamma mia, how small I was,’” he said.

“I’ve had my ups and downs, but that has allowed me to become the person I am today. I was a child, today I’m a father. I often watch Roma, especially in Europe. I support them and hope they win the Scudetto.”
