As Denmark and Sweden last night played a friendly in Copenhagen, there were a few Manchester United players on the pitch.
Victor Lindelof, Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund were all starters in the match, with ended with a 2-1 win for the home side.
The Manchester United centre-back is today quoted by Aftonbladet talking about the friendly, and commented on the novelty of having club teammates as opponents this time.
Regarding a specific play where Lindelof was seen speaking to Eriksen before a free-kick, having to moved on by the referee, the defender pointed out he was trying some mind games.
Lindelof was also asked whether it’s possible to get ‘serious’ given they’re such good friends at Manchester United, and whilst their wives were sitting together in the stands.
“I still think so, as I said I think I did quite well. But of course it’s difficult to play against teammates that you see every day and are good friends with. But out there on the pitch we do everything for our country and for us to win the match. Of course it’s fun to try to come up with some jokes.”
The defender may have done a good job stopping Eriksen and Hojlund while he could, but after being replaced at half-time, Lindelof ended up seeing the midfielder score a beautiful late winner for Denmark.
Sweden now have a friendly against Serbia, and their players will get some time off after that. Denmark play Norway, and will then be ready to start their Euros campaign.
