Liverpool goalkeeper Adrián San Miguel has expressed his desire to make a switch back to Spain in the summer window.
The 37-year-old has been speaking to Movistar Plus, where one of the topics discussed was his future at Anfield, and his comments are relayed by Mucho Deporte.
Adrián hasn’t made an appearance for Liverpool this season and has played two games since the start of the 2021/22 campaign. His current deal will expire in June and his future is likely to be away from the Merseyside club.
The Spaniard left Real Betis for West Ham United in 2013, and after spending six years with the London club, he joined Jürgen Klopp’s side on a free transfer. He’s now aiming to return to La Liga in the next window.
“I would like to return to LaLiga after 11 seasons in the Premier League. It would be the end of a cycle. I’m still ready to compete. I feel very good despite being 37,” he said.
“You know that goalkeepers, if you take good care of yourself, if you haven’t had any serious injuries lately and you’re fine, the daily training gives you that intensity that makes you compete.”
“I think Adrián has a long time left and it’s true that I would like to return to the LaLiga. It has to be a nice, interesting project.”
The stopper insists he hasn’t had a chat with Liverpool over his future but his focus seems to be on La Liga for now.
“I haven’t sat down with Liverpool yet either. I don’t rule out that we could have a pending conversation, but it is true that we will be looking out of the corner of our eye to see what happens in the LaLiga,” Adrián explained.
Claudio Bravo is set to leave Real Betis when his contract with them expires next month. The Andalusian club could consider bringing the Liverpool player back in the next window.
