Nottingham Forest forward Dan Ndoye has admitted he understands fan frustrations after the 3-2 defeat to Midtjylland this week.
Blick have an interview with the Nottingham Forest man today in which he insists the squad were as frustrated as the fans by the result.
Forest welcomed European football to the City Ground for the first time in nearly three decades this week when they took on Midtjylland in the Europa League.
It proved to be a disappointing evening for them, though, as they fell to a 3-2 defeat thanks to a goal in the 88th minute from Valdemar Andreasen.
It was another defeat for Ange Postecoglou, who has endured a miserable start since replacing Nuno Espirito Santo. He’s the first Nottingham Forest manager to fail to win any of his first six games in charge in 100 years.
The Australian is already under huge pressure and faced chants of ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’ from his own fans. They also sung Nuno Espirito Santo’s name at full-time.
Ndoye can understand their frustrations, admitting that he and the rest of the squad weren’t happy with the result either.
“It’s clear that the result is disappointing,” he said when the chants were brought up.
“I also understand the fans who come here. It’s been 30 years since the club last played in Europe, and we lost at home a match we could have won thanks to our qualities. It’s very frustrating for them as well as for us.”
Ndoye was one of many signings made in the summer to bolster the squad for their season in the Europa League.
It was the next step in a career that’s been on a constant upward trajectory so far, taking him from the Super League in Switzerland to Serie A in Italy and now the Premier League. He’s not done yet and admits he wants to go higher.
“I’m a very ambitious person and I’m aware of my qualities,” he added.
“So, this trajectory doesn’t shock me. I’m someone who likes to work, who likes to progress. That’s why I’m in the Premier League today. I’m still not satisfied; I want to go even higher.”
