Manchester United defender Victor Lindelöf has insisted that he backs his agents as they find themselves wrapped up in controversy.
The defender has been speaking to Fotboll Skanalen today as controversy surrounding his representatives, led by agent Hasan Cetinkaya, has led to a focus on their clients.
A report last year accused Cetinkaya and his agency of being potentially linked to organised crime, something he has strongly denied. Indeed, he has insisted that he plans to report the media organisations involved to the Media Ombudsman for defamation.
In the meantime, many of his clients have shown support for their agent via social media, although Manchester United’s Lindelöf is not one of them.
The Swedish international is one of the company’s highest-profile clients at this moment in time, with them representing many Swedish players as well as the likes of Frenkie De Jong, Denis Zakaria and Noa Lang.
That has seemingly raised eyebrows back in Sweden, where they were keen to ask the Manchester United man about the situation and whether he would be supporting his agents.
And he was clear on that matter, insisting that he backs them “110%” despite what has been reported.
“I know that there is some kind of process going on right now. I will not comment on it. It continues to be handled,” he said.
“We have worked for many years, and they have helped me on many levels. I trust them 110%. That’s where I stand.
“I’m not very good at Instagram. That is the reason. Of course I talk to them, for me it’s more important than posting something on social media.”
