This week, we’ve already seen Chelsea defender Thiago Silva giving ESPN Brasil a very interesting interview.
Speaking to reporter João Castelo-Branco, the 38-year-old had revealed that there are talks for a new contract at the club, with news about that coming soon, and also commented on Jorginho’s departure to Arsenal.
It turns out that with Chelsea playing Fulham tomorrow tonight, ESPN Brasil released a new bit of their chat, which is about Willian.
There, Thiago Silva revealed that he tried to bring the winger back to the Blues a couple of years ago, but couldn’t succeed, and will now face his friend in the Premier League clash on Friday.
“Willian is special, I have a special affection for this kid. Off the curve as a person and player,” Thiago Silva told ESPN Brasil.
“Before he left for Corinthians, I tried to bring him back, but unfortunately things didn’t advance, they didn’t work. I knew he was a very important player. In the first round game, he scored a goal against us, he’s having important performances with Fulham. I hope that Friday he can be calmer.”
Willian left Chelsea still in 2020, on a free move for Arsenal. His time in North London didn’t last for very long, as he only spent one year there, and that’s apparently when Silva tried to bring him back to the Stamford Bridge.
The winger, however, moved to his childhood club Corinthians, where he didn’t have a great experience, suffering from the huge pressure from club fans at the time. That’s why, last summer, he signed a contract with Fulham.
