Jon Dahl Tomasson left Blackburn Rovers in February 2024 and became the new Sweden manager just days later.

The Dane joined Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 2022 and had a decent record with the Championship club

He managed 90 games for Blackburn Rovers, winning 41 and drawing 13, and his record with Sweden is slightly better than that. The 49-year-old has been in charge of the national team for 16 games and won nine of them.

Earlier this month, Sweden started the World Cup qualifiers with a 2-2 draw against Slovenia and a 2-0 loss to Kosovo, and following these two matches, the former Blackburn Rovers boss has been subjected to criticism, especially on social media.

SVT had a chat with Jon Dahl Tomasson on this topic and Sportbladet, who have relayed his comments, say he received ‘hate comments’ on Instagram.

“I always tell my wife and children not to read comments, so I haven’t read the comments either,” he said.

When asked if he’s received threats online, the national team manager indicated the police are involved. He made his feelings clear after receiving hate comments online.

“I’m not allowed to comment on that. It is an ongoing investigation. If there is hatred, or verbal violence… I think it is just disgusting,” Jon Dahl Tomasson explained.

Sweden face Kosovo and Switzerland in World Cup qualifiers in October.
