Elfsborg goalkeeper Tim Ronning believes it’s up to Pontus Dahlberg to whether he decides to sign for a big club.
Dahlberg has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in recent months after establishing himself as first choice at IFK Göteborg.
Speaking to Fotbol Direkt, Ronning was asked about the credentials of his Sweden U21 international rival, and whether the Tottenham target was ready to join a major club: “It depends on the individual. Some people manage that step and are ready, while others do not. It’s up to him, but I think he’s really good.”
We recently covered reports from Sweden that IFK could be forced to sell Dahlberg in the next window in order to cut costs, with Tottenham keen on the 18 year old.
The Swedish club failed in their attempts to get Champions League football, and subsequently they need to offload players.
With the uncertainty over the future of Michel Vorm, Dahlberg could be an option for Tottenham in the new year. Vorm’s contract expires next summer, and Tottenham could possibly look to bring in the player to replace the Dutchman.
