Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite has been on loan at PSV Eindhoven since last summer and has been a regular for the Dutch club, making 31 appearances this season.

As part of the deal, the Toffees haven’t given the Eredivisie side an option or obligation to make the defender’s stay permanent.

De Telegraaf journalist Valentijn Driessen discussed the Everton owned player during the Kick-off Podcast, relayed by PSV Fans.

Branthwaite played the full 90 minutes in PSV’s 3-2 win over FC Volendam last weekend. After watching the tie, Driessen is of the belief it’s best for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side to invest on Volendam’s Xavier Mbuyamba instead the Toffees centre-back.

“I have to tell you honestly that I have never seen Branthwaite as a player for PSV,” he said.

“They would like to take him over from Everton, but I haven’t seen it against Volendam. Then you better have Xavier Mbuyamba from FC Volendam. There is still a future in that boy.”

On March 13th, the 20-year-old admitted he’s open to extending his stay at PSV beyond his loan deal.

Later that month, Voetbal International journalist Marco Timmer reported Van Nistelrooy’s side will try to buy him in the next window even though it won’t be easy for them.

Recent reports would suggest PSV are unlikely to take Driessen’s comments into account when deciding what to do with Branthwaite in the summer.
