Carlo Ancelotti’s decision to leave Everton for Real Madrid forced the Merseyside club to bring in a new manager last June. Later that month, the Toffees appointed Rafael Benítez, before the Spaniard was shown the exit door on January 16th.
Everton struggled under the orders of the former Liverpool coach as they have managed only one league win since the end of September.
A series of poor results has seen them sit 16th in the table with 19 points from 20 matches, four points ahead of 17th placed Newcastle United, with a game in hand.
Everton confirmed the appointment of Frank Lampard as their new manager earlier this week. The Premier League side have also added Dele Alli, Donny van de Beek and Anwar El Ghazi to their squad in the winter market.
TMW Radio spoke to Gabriele Ambrosetti and asked whether the appointment of his old Chelsea teammate as manager, plus the January signings, is enough to help Everton avoid dropping to the Championship.
Responding to that, Ambrosetti said: “As I said to Frank, I’m happy he’s back because he’s a guy who deserves to be in the world of football.
“Unfortunately, there were communication problems with Benítez. I’m sure that the enthusiasm of Van de Beek and Alli will give something, Everton cannot be relegated.”
