Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was subjected to a firm interest from Al-Ittihad in the last window.

The Premier League side were reportedly concerned about losing him, but that didn’t happen and the forward is still at the Merseyside club, where he has a deal until 2025.

Al-Ittihad president Anmar Al-Haili has vowed to reveal why his side weren’t able to sign the Liverpool player and his comments are relayed by AS.

Apart from the 31-year-old, the Saudi Arabian club had also failed in their efforts to sign Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Ramos, who returned to Sevilla.

According to AS, the Middle Eastern club’s president has ‘promised to tell everything’ about these three failed operations.

“I remained silent… but I hope to be able to respond soon to what happened in the last week of the summer market regarding Salah, Ramos… and De Bruyne,” he said.

The Spanish newspaper states Al-Ittihad were willing to pay €233m to Liverpool, to make Salah the most expensive player in the world, surpassing Neymar’s €222m move to Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona in 2017.

It’s even claimed they wanted to offer the Egypt international a deal worth €200m [likely per year]. However, his decision to renew the contract at Liverpool in 2022 and Jürgen Klopp’s words were among the reasons that ‘tipped the balance’ in the Reds’ favour.

“Salah is a Liverpool player and is essential to everything we do. If there was anything, the answer would be no. My philosophy of life is that I think of a problem when I have one, and there is absolutely nothing at the moment,” Klopp explained.

Salah has continued to excel for Liverpool as he has managed 12 goals and four assists from 17 games this season.
