Former Juventus and Napoli director Luciano Moggi has questioned Carlo Ancelotti’s decision to join Everton, suggesting it is a money-based decision.
Ancelotti looks set to become Everton’s new manager at some point over the weekend having held talks with the club earlier this week.
Some reports have suggested he will be in charge for the clash with Burnley on Boxing Day, as well as being in the stands to see his new team take on Arsenal on Saturday.
His move to Merseyside is being seen as something of a coup for Everton, given that Ancelotti has managed the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain in the past.
There has been a suggestion it could be for the money, with multiple reports claiming Ancelotti is set to earn big wages at Goodison Park.
Moggi certainly thinks that’s what’s motivated the Italian boss to make the move, saying he would not have done the same.
“Carlo Ancelotti was wrong to go to Everton,” he told 7 Gold, relayed by Arena Napoli.
“He has a personal history to defend, he won so much, and he goes into a team that, at the moment, is in great difficulty.
“If he does it for money, I can also understand it, but I think he has put himself in a bad situation. I wouldn’t have made such a choice.”
