Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat may have turned into Manchester United’s main target for the final week of the summer window, but there are people who don’t really trust his quality as a player.
The Serie A side have just signed Arthur Melo, who barely played for Liverpool last season, and people around the club now believe he could actually be an upgrade to the Moroccan.
Outlet Firenze Viola today features some quotes from Antonio Di Gennaro. On their ‘Chi si compra?’ radio show, he made a brief analysis oof Amrabat, claiming Manchester United may still come for him in the final days of the window.
“The player had expressed his willingness to leave in January. Some time was lost, I think there’s still time even if maybe there’s only Manchester United. He could stay but then he’d become one more player, for how Fiorentina plays, however, despite being valid, he does not verticalize and does not score.
“Arthur, on the other hand, represents a different type of footballer. Now we will see how Amrabat and the club approach these transfer market days, an acceleration will be needed also from the agent.”
Regarding the possibility of Amrabat staying at Fiorentina, the pundit not only claimed that the Moroccan may lose the competition to Arthur, but also said no one should actually be interested in signing him.
“I hope that the situation can be resolved, otherwise it could create some problems in the locker room. He would also risk staying out of the owners because the Italian has now chosen Arthur. If he stayed in Florence, it would be hard for him. A solution is needed, it’s not a good situation for him. I would never buy a player like Amrabat if I were a manager.”
Reports from Italy today claimed Fiorentina are acting like Aamrabat is ‘on verge of being sold’. Manchester United are still to make a move for him, and it seems there’s a real chance he could stay in case no one meets his €30m price.
