Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Jørgen Strand Larsen is confident of overcoming his struggles with form and fitness.
The striker is with Norway, preparing for the friendly against New Zealand later today. He has an opportunity to start as Erling Haaland and Alexander Sørloth are being rested for this clash.
Dagbladet interviewed the Wolves player to find out about his fitness and discuss the club’s poor start to the season.
The 25-year-old initially joined Wolves on loan from Celta Vigo in July 2024 and his stay was made permanent earlier this year.
Last season, the Norway international scored 14 goals and registered five assists from 38 matches. He’s yet to score in the league and has two goals in the EFL Cup this season.
Wolves have also struggled and are only Premier League team yet to register a win after seven matches. They are currently bottom of the table.
Wolves player hit by multiple issues
Dagbladet say there’s an ‘enormous contrast’ in his form between this and last season. The player remains confident of regaining his best form.
“Of course, it’s a bit frustrating to feel like you can’t get started. It’s rare that I bother complaining about other things. But I have struggled a lot with injuries. Being in such a situation is not easy,” he said.
“It’s not easy to go into a match and always have something in the back of your mind. But the goals will come.”
The frontman suffered hamstring and groin injuries earlier this year. Last month, VG reported Jørgen Strand Larsen is not fully fit this season as he’s been dealing with an Achilles issue.
Dagbladet claim it’s ‘about getting used to his Achilles’ situation.
“I need to get back on my feet and feel a bit better than I have lately. o start scoring goals. I need to be myself,” Jørgen Strand Larsen explained.
