Because the transfer of Radu Dragușin was such big news in Romania, his agent, Florin Manea, has been talking a lot about the move to Tottenham.
There’s no denying this is the biggest job of his career to date, as Spurs spent around €30m to get the player from Genoa, and the agent will have obviously pocketed a nice amount of money in the process.
Most agents wouldn’t divulge how much they made from a deal, but Manea isn’t most agents, and, speaking to Fanatik, relayed by PlayTech in Romania, he revealed what the Tottenham transfer will mean for his own personal finances.
He said: “I have an agreement with (Dragușin) from the beginning. I put everything on the table and say how much money I take. He gets my commission on email. I made a lot of money on this transfer, I think it was the biggest in Romanian football.
“Yes! Around €4m. My share, my money. That’s besides my partners. I took money from Tottenham and Genoa. I saw a broadcast where someone said I get €4m and the player only gets €3m. I get €4m in six years. Look how much money the player gets in six years. I don’t take a cent of the player’s salary.”
Dragușin’s arrival at Tottenham was met with a lot of intrigue in England, Italy and Romania, as he only had so much experience in a top league (Serie A) before making the move to the Premier League.
He made his debut from the bench in the game against Manchester United and will likely be part of the team that will face Manchester City in the FA Cup on Friday evening, perhaps even getting his first start in the process.
