It’s been no secret for the Italian media that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Genoa attacker Albert Gudmundsson.
Following the signing of Radu Dragusin in January, it’s been said that Spurs are competing with Serie A sides for the 26-year-old’s signature.
Gudmundsson’s good form this season is the reason why he’s now interviewed by Sky Italia, with Gianluca Di Marzio bringing some of his quotes.
There, the Tottenham target was quite humble when talking about his own potential, and also described how much he likes football.
“I am a football fan, I love this sport, football was my first love. I never saw Maradona play, I didn’t see him with my own eyes live, but I saw some footage: he was incredible. I’m not at his level, but I’m not that bad.”
Asked about potentially building a partnership with Teun Koopmeiners at Juventus, he said: “In football you can never say never, but of course many things can happen. I don’t really know Koopmeiners future, I don’t even know what mine will be, we’ll see. Of course it would be nice to play with Koopi again because he is a fantastic player.”
With recent rumours about Gudmundsson’s departure, Genoa CEO Andres Blasquez claimed that the player can leave this summer for €35m.
Reports from Italy have been claiming that Tottenham are scouting the player, although there’s not yet any information on a potential bid from Spurs.
Gudmunsson has 12 goals and four assists in 28 appearances for Genoa this season, so a few Italian clubs are expected to battle for him.
In case his club don’t want to reinforce any league rivals, then Tottenham might get a little advantage to take him way from Serie A.
