As Leeds United prepare to get in shape for the return of English football, they’re set to play a few friendlies.
One of them is against Elche, who are hosting the Trofeo Festa d’Elx, and are glad to welcome their former director Victor Orta to the club.
The Leeds United chief has already spoken to the Spanish media about the match, and was first asked about their new manager Pablo Machin, who took charge of the club last month.
“I like him as a coach: he is methodical, a perfectionist and has a plan with which he has managed to grow to the elite,” Victor Orta told Onda Cero.
Orta also recalled his time at Elche claiming he was very happy there, as he could’ve kept a ‘lifetime career’ at the club.
“I was very comfortable, because of its climate, city, club, gastronomy fans, the beaches… I even lived in a stomp in a corner of the stadium”.
Elche sound excited that they’ll be facing Leeds United in the Trofeo Festa d’Elx, and Orta also talked up the Whites, claiming their visit to the Spanish city means a lot.
“Although someone doubted that Bragarnik was going to bring a top-level rival to this tournament, the Leeds is the seventh team in Premier League television audience, the fourth in jersey sales, the one that buys the most tickets from visiting fans and the second with the second highest percentage of attendance at its stadium, only surpassed by Liverpool.
Besides Elche, Leeds are also facing Real Sociedad and Monaco in other friendlies.
They’re then back playing in the Premier League on December 28 against Manchester City, where they will hope to somehow pick up some points to move further away from the relegation zone.
