Argentina’s World Cup title in December is still a big deal in the local media, with their shows constantly talking about that, and to speak of that achievement today, they managed to hold an interview with Brighton & Hove Albion star Alexis Mac Allister.
The midfielder may have started the tournament on the bench, but soon conquered a starting place and ended the competition being one of the main players in the champions’ squad.
It turns out that after the title, the Brighton star had spoken to the English media and said that his life remains boring as usual. He had just won a World Cup, so that went viral as if he didn’t give the title a lot of value.
Now speaking to TyC Sports, Mac Allister had a chance to explain himself, claiming that his routine stays the same, regardless of that big title.
“I laughed because it came out everywhere that I said it was the same boring life. There was someone who told me ‘you’re world champion and you’re bored…’ But I was referring more than anything to the issue of routine, of the way of being.
“I’m still the same person, I still have the same routine and I live life in the same way. And I enjoy it a lot, don’t worry, I’m not bored, I come home, sit on the couch, drink mate and I watch football. I really enjoy it, it’s not that I suffer and get bored. It did change my life in the sense of recognition, but everything else remains the same.”
In the same interview, Mac Allister also talked about a potential exit from Brighton, saying he already has a preferred destination and even indicated a player to replace him at the Seagulls.
