Manchester United forward Antony has praised Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana as he edges closer to a move to Old Trafford.
The Brazilian has been speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy regarding his first season in England, his goals for next season and several other subjects.
One of those other subjects was the possible arrival of Onana, who has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in the last few weeks.
It’s believed he is Erik ten Hag’s number one target to replace David de Gea as Manchester United’s number one, with the Spaniard having departed the club at the end of his contract earlier this month.
A deal has been progressing for some time and now appears to be close to completion, with it reported today that an official had flown to London to seal the deal.
Should it go through as expected it would see Onana reunite with Ten Hag, who he made 145 appearances under during their time together at Ajax.
It would also see him link up with Antony, another of his former Ajax colleagues, and the Manchester United man was open to the idea when it was brought up by Gazzetta.
“I know him very well, we played together at Ajax. He is a great goalkeeper and a beautiful person,” he said.
“It’s not for me to say (if he should make the move), because it’s the club’s decision and not mine. I can only say that he is certainly very strong. And that there is an excellent relationship between us.”
