Trabzonspor coach Nenad Bjelica has shared his delight at finalising a deal for Southampton forward Mislav Oršić, after the Croatian moved to Turkey in a €2.4m deal.
The manager has been speaking to Haber 61 regarding various issues at the club when the subject of their new transfer was brought up.
Oršić completed his move to Trabzonspor at the beginning of this month after a disastrous spell at Southampton since his arrival in the January transfer window.
He was signed by the Saints as they looked to bolster their forward line in the winter window but his moved proved to be a disastrous one, with him barely featuring under Nathan Jones or Ruben Selles.
It had been made clear in various reports that he wanted out of Southampton as a result and Trabzonspor were keen to reunite him with former coach Bjelica.
That deal has now been done and the Trabzonspor manager has admitted his delight at that fact, revealing he knew Oršić’s plans beforehand.
“Mislav and I worked very well at Dinamo for two years,” he said.
“I think he deserves everything he has achieved the most, because what he achieved with me, he achieved after me. He is an excellent player.
“He’s a Dinamo legend and I’m glad we were able to bring him here. Trabzonspor expects a lot from him. The right club to get it back to where it belongs in Croatian and world football.
“I knew he didn’t want to stay in Southampton. The transfer seemed impossible at first as the team had big claims but having a partner helped us.”
