Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca is destined to work with Sevilla at some point again, but not any time soon.
That’s according to his fitness coach at Leicester Marcos Álvarez, who has backed his manager to return to his former club at some point in his career.
Maresca has been linked with a move to Sevilla this summer, with numerous reports in Spain indicating he is on Victor Orta’s list of options to replace Quique Sanchez Flores at the end of the season.
He’s consistently been seen as the outside, dream option for Sevilla, with the fact he’s led Leicester back to the Premier League and the existence of a €10m release clause making a deal unlikely.
On the flip side, his relationship with the Spanish club, where he was once assistant manager as well as the technical coach during his managerial career, as well as playing for them for four years during his playing career, has kept the small flame burning.
Álvarez has now added a little fuel to that, but insists he believes a move isn’t on the cards in the near future for the Leicester boss.
“We are focused there on Leicester and right now there is no other option,” he assured the microphones of Canal Sur Radio’s La Gran Jugada, relayed by Diario de Sevilla.
“He loves Sevilla, just as the Sevilla fans love him. Because he has been very important in the history of the club and, probably, I imagine that our paths will cross.”
