It’s relatively quiet on the Christian Eriksen front.
The Spanish sport media aren’t currently going too overboard with claims about the Tottenham player or Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, with both linked with Real Madrid moves.
Eriksen last week gave an interview in Denmark and made it clear he’s considering leaving Spurs. His comments, specifically about Real Madrid, quickly made the Spanish newspapers, but they didn’t have a great deal to add.
As it stands it doesn’t appear Madrid are going full throttle for the signing, at least not at this stage of the window. There have been suggestions it’s felt Tottenham will be more willing to negotiate a better (for Madrid) price towards the end of the window if Eriksen hasn’t renewed.
Given it’s peak transfer season, Tottenham players are likely to be asked about moves during national team press conferences.
Jan Vertonghen today spoke at the Belgium camp, and AS quote the player’s response to questioning about his teammate and Madrid: “I did not see the interview, so it’s hard for me to judge him, I can only say that he’s a fantastic player, I’ve known him since he was 16. I hope he stays at Tottenham next season. He’s an exceptional player.”
Sure, Jan.
