The father of Liverpool midfielder Thiago, Mazinho, has admitted he would love to see his son move to Celta Vigo this summer.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who cover comments from the World Cup winner today regarding his dreams for his son’s future.
Thiago has been linked with a move away from Liverpool this summer following another injury hit campaign in which he only featured in spells.
Liverpool have been rebuilding their midfield over the transfer window and that has seen Thiago linked with a move away as a result, with clubs in Spain and Saudi Arabia having been credited with an interest.
A transfer is yet to materialise at this point in the window, but Thiago is certainly a name to keep an eye on in the final days, with clubs around Europe continuing to move and him unlikely to be a regular for Liverpool this season.
Whether a move arises remains to be seen but if his father had the choice, he would be going to Celta Vigo.
“In football you never know, I hope so [that he can sign for Celta] but at the moment it is very complicated because Thiago has another dimension and another lifestyle,” he said.
“But I wish Thiago could come here. Almost all the memories I have from here are very good. Vigo is our home.
“Rafinha has had the opportunity to come here later to play two seasons… for the whole family, Celta means our home.”
