Celtic are in the United States for their pre-season tour and Brendan Rodgers’ side sealed a 4-0 win over DC United at the weekend.

After the tie, Honduran newspaper Diario La Prensa had a chat with Celtic’s Luis Palma, who arrived in Glasgow from Greek side Aris in August 2023. The winger insisted that it’s vital to have a good pre-season to help him impress for Celtic next season.

“Every time we play a game we want to win it, we have to tell their goalkeeper that he was good. The scoreboard was reflected in what the game was like. I’m fine, adapting after my vacation, joining the preseason is important to reach the performance I want,” he said.

The Scottish champions will face Manchester City, followed by a clash against Chelsea in the US this month. The 24-year-old is eager for the two friendlies against the Premier League sides.

On these two fixtures, Palma explained: “It’s important to start the tour on the right foot, I’m happy with the performance, personally I feel very good and happy to return to the pitch. It’ll be a nice game and experience against City and Chelsea, where I hope that I and the whole group can play a great game and learn from those teams.”

The winger finished his debut season at Celtic with 12 goals and 13 assists from 41 games in all competitions, and the Honduras international aims to have a better campaign next season, after adapting to the club and country.

“Adaptation was very important for me, since I arrived, I knew how to adapt to the climate, the city, the people and the team, which is a great one. My expectations are the same to continue growing as a person and player, if last season I scored 10 goals and 10 assists, now I hope to do more,” he added.

Palma played 45 minutes against DC United and Diario La Prensa claims he wants more minutes when Celtic face Pep Guardiola’s side on Thursday [Wednesday local time].

On his relationship with Brendan Rodgers, the Celtic star said: “Our relationship is very good, I thank Brendan, he was the one who gave me the opportunity to be at the club.”
