David Møller Wolfe joined Wolves from AZ Alkmaar in the summer transfer window. So far, the defender has 132 minutes in all competitions.
The Norwegian remained on the bench in his side’s 1-1 draw against Tottenham on Saturday. He didn’t feature against Leeds United aor Newcastle United either.
Møller Wolfe spoke to VG after the game in London and was asked about his lack of game time at Wolves so far.
The 23-year-old made it clear that he has no other choice but to keep working hard to prove himself to Vitor Pereira.
“It’s just that I have to keep training hard and working. I have no other choice. I can either go home and feel sorry for myself or train hard and be ready when the opportunity comes.”
When asked whether he is worried, Møller Wolfe firmly responded: “No, I’m not.”
The defender also made it clear that he should get regular minutes soon.
“I feel like I’m extremely close. There’s very little that separates everyone who can play left-back and everyone who can play left wing-back. I know that if I work on it and get even more into things, even more into the group, then I have faith in my own qualities. Sooner or later I’ll play.”
Jørgen Strand Larsen backs Wolves teammate
Wolves teammate Jørgen Strand Larsen also spoke to VG and he had encouraging words for the Norway international.
“David is positive. The Premier League is tough, there is fierce competition for places. He knows it himself and does well in training. I think he is good. He was a bit unlucky that we were very bad in the first two games, and he didn’t get to show himself. We have also had formation changes in recent games that may not have helped him. It takes time.”
There are still a lot of games to be played in the Premier League and Møller Wolfe should get his chance soon.
Pereira’s side got a draw against Tottenham but have just that solitary point so far.
This could lead to the Portuguese coach rotating his side and potentially giving an opportunity to Møller Wolfe to play.
