Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville has told VoetbalPrimeur that he’s been enjoying life in the Championship.
The winger has been one of the standout players for the Whites this season, scoring 16 goals and registering nine assists from 32 games so far. His fine displays have helped Leeds dream of a quick return to the Premier League.
When asked to describe the Championship, he said: “I’m enjoying every minute of it, physically and in terms of intensity it’s really top level.”
Summerville is 1.74m tall and VoetbalPrimeur state the Dutchman has to be ‘smarter’, to compensate for his height and the physical aspect in the Championship. The Leeds star has revealed what he does to overcome it.
“What I have going for me is that I’m very good in small spaces, and that defenders have a very difficult time due to my speed, agility and explosiveness, which means that I cannot easily get into duels with them, something they love,” Summerville explained.
“I think our fans are some of the best in the world. They are our 12th man. No matter how the club is doing, even when we were relegated, they still supported us and believed that we will return to the Premier League,” he added.
Farke’s side are second in the table, two points ahead of third placed Southampton, who have a game in hand.
Summerville is yet to receive a call up from the Netherlands’ senior team and is hopeful of representing them at the Euros in the summer. His priority, for now, is to help the Whites return to the top flight.
“It would be great if I could be in the picture towards the European Championship, otherwise I would find the World Cup in 2026 very special to experience in the long term,” the Leeds winger said.
“Right now, I’m really not thinking about anything other than the Premier League. I want to get back there as soon as possible.”
