Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun has insisted he would move to England again if given the chance, despite his struggles at Everton.

Tosun joined Everton in a €22.5m deal in the January transfer window in 2018, signing for then interim manager Sam Allardyce, who had been chasing him for some time.

He arrived at Goodison Park with a glowing reputation from his time in Turkey, where he had shined for Besiktas in the league and Champions League.

His time at Everton would prove to be nothing short of a disaster, though, with him managing just 11 goals and six assists in 61 games for the club.

His playing time was severely limited by several serious injuries during his time at Goodison Park, with him suffering a cruciate ligament injury that saw him miss 238 days, a patella rupture that saw him out for 196 days and then a thigh muscle rupture which ruled him out for 74 days.

It meant his time at Everton was something of a miserable one, but he insists he would do it again if he had to choose.

“I didn’t have much trouble in England because my English was good,” he told A Spor, related by Sporx.

“It is a country similar to Germany, there were not many difficulties. I cannot say ‘I wish I had not gone to England’. My dream was the Premier League.

“Maybe it was not the right league. It would have been different if I went to Spain. But my childhood dream was the Premier League.

“I had successful periods. I had injuries. I had good experiences in 4.5 years. If we turned back time, I would go again.”
