Henrikh Mkhitaryan is the subject of a Bild article on Thursday which reveals how his relationship with Borussia Dortmund went from brilliant to terrible in a very short period of time.
The German newspaper explain that on May 23rd, Mkhitaryan’s agent Mino Raiola met Dortmund executives at Dusseldorf airport and agreed a new contract for the Armenian.
The deal agreed was for €7m a year on a 4 year contract. Dortmund then expected the deal to be signed, but two weeks later the situation was turned on its head.
Mkhitaryan is said to have sent a text message to Thomas Tuchel, telling his Dortmund manager: ‘I go to Manchester United’
Bild see it as some kind of strike threat, and they have also found out Mkhitaryan terminated the lease on his home in March, making them believe the whole thing has been a strategy and the previously agreed deal was some kind of ruse on his behalf.
Dortmund maybe should have expected this was how it would end, because this is how is started and similar to the way Mkhitaryan moved from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013.
The German club are ‘very disappointed in his behaviour’, according to Bild.
