Chelsea striker Armando Broja appears to have suffered a set back in his return from injury, with Albania coach Sylvinho confirming he’ll miss their clash with Czech Republic.
Newsport covered the comments from the Albania boss today from his press conference ahead of the Euro qualifier in Group E.
Broja had been hoping to be a part of the team after making his long-awaited return from injury for Chelsea before the international break.
The 22-year-old spent 274 days out injured with a cruciate ligament rupture picked up in December last year, an injury that saw him miss 34 games for Chelsea over the last year.
He made his return in 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa at the end of September before then managing a 64-minute appearance, and a goal to boot, in the 2-0 win over Fulham.
He continued that with a 45-minute appearance in the 4-1 win over Burnley last weekend, another important step on his return to full fitness.
It seems a negative can now be added to the positives, though, with Sylvinho confirming that an injury issue has ruled him out for now.
“This is our part, to meet the players,” he said.
“In recent weeks, the technical staff has made several visits, meeting Muchi in Warsaw, or in Barcelona and London.
“The spirit of the competition and the heart that the players put on the field, but also the fans. We are aware that there is a lot of atmosphere with the fans. But we haven’t had much work with the players as they are motivated for such a match.
“As for Broja, I have to give bad news. He was with the team for only 2 days. After consulting with our doctors and Chelsea’s, he can’t make it, he won’t be ready for tomorrow. We have other players to evaluate. Gjasula is ready to play.”
