Tottenham youngster Bryan Gil has insisted he is not focusing on his failed move to Valencia in the summer, or a possible move there in January.
The Spaniard spent the second half of last season on loan with the La Liga side, establishing himself as a firm fan favourite with a series of impressive performances.
He had been expected to reunite with them this summer and there was certainly interest, with Valencia pursuing a move throughout the window.
The possibility of it happening ran to the final day, only for Tottenham to decide against sanctioning it as they could not find a replacement in time.
That left Gil as part of the squad until January, a disappointing scenario for him given the best he can hope for is substitute appearances under Antonio Conte at this moment in time.
It seems he is refusing to focus on what could have been, though, and instead insists his priorities lie with Tottenham.
“I’m working to give my best, to do well when it’s my turn,” he told EFE, relayed by Plaza Deportiva.
“That’s the motivation I have, to improve every day and contribute as much as possible.
“In England it’s a different style of play to La Liga, more physical, more back and forth and I think it tests me, with other situations, another game. I think I’m improving.
“It’s (the Valencia situation) something that has already happened. Now I have to concentrate on where I am. At my club, Tottenham, do my best here and forget about something that has already happened.
“I’m focused on the present. I’m not thinking about the future. I’m focused on improving and playing as much as possible.”
