Leicester City youngster Sidnei Tavares is featured today in an interview with Portuguese newspaper Record.

Even though the 19-year-old is still to make his official debut for the Foxes, he says he’s pretty happy at the club, especially with the conversations he has with people from the first team.

“I spoke with Ricardo Pereira, with Youri Tielemans, who even plays in my position and advised me, and also with Hamza, who always told me to continue playing my way whenever the ball was controlled… And I started to feel comfortable,” Tavares told Record.

“I felt that he trusted me. Listening to praise from one of world’s best coaches is the most important thing we can hear and it gives me a lot of confidence,” he says regarding manager Brendan Rodgers.

Record points out that Tavares is wanted by the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Despite claiming he doesn’t think about it, the midfielder says he’s ready in case a transfer like this shows up.

“It is the life of football, but the most important thing is to be focused on my football and what is actually happening. The rest comes by chance. I have always trusted myself and I’m ready for everything, I feel prepared for the next leap.”

On having former Manchester United winger Nani as his cousin, Tavares said: “He gave me some tips, he knows the life of football and what it is to be a footballer. But we are different players.”

The Leicester teenager was also asked the usual question regarding a return to his home country, and claims it doesn’t cross his mind for now.

“I don’t think about it yet, because I want to compete with the best.”

However, in case he does go back, then there’s a special club he’ll probably be playing for: “My family is all portista, so FC Porto would be the most likely.”

Still speaking of Portugal, he’s one more player who claims he misses his home country’s food, even though he’s happy to cook by himself.

“I have a special taste for cooking and many of the conversations I have with Ricardo Pereira and Wanya Marçal are about that. We talk a lot about how we miss cachupa.”
