Back in October, Leeds United got named as one of the contenders for the signing of Joaquin Piquerez from Palmeiras.

It was said the Whites had been monitoring the fullback’s performances at the Verdão, who ended up winning the Brazilian league last week.

Piquerez was awarded by TV Gazeta as the best left-back in the competition, and is quoted by ESPN about his future.

The Leeds United target made it clear that playing in European football is a goal for him, even though he’s focused on his club right now.

“I want to keep growing, I’m happy at Palmeiras, I have the dream of playing in Europe, but I enjoy the present and I want to keep winning titles for Palmeiras,” said Piquerez.

It’s now been a few years since Piquerez started standing out in South America, and since he recently turned 25, it’s about time that he gets a move to Europe.

Even though he’s been linked to Leeds and other Premier League sides, though, we’re still to see reports about Palmeiras receiving actual bids for his departure.

The fullback is protected by a contract until 2025, and is valued by Transfermarkt at just €13m, although the Brazilian club would certainly demand more to let him go.
