On Wednesday, a report in Italy claimed Marcelo Bielsa, currently managing Leeds United, was touted as an ideal candidate for the Napoli job.
Gennaro Gattuso, the man under fire, could potentially leave at the end of the season should they fail to qualify for the Champions League, and a number of names have been suggested as replacements.
The favourite is Maurizio Sarri, who seemingly wants the job above all, but Massimo Grillo, described as a FIFA agent, believed the Leeds manager was the man needed to revamp the Serie A side.
He said: “Bielsa? From a media and philosophical point of view, it would be a very interesting mix. I don’t think he considers his adventure at Leeds over. On a character level, there could be problems with De Laurentiis”.
After all, it’s well known that both the Napoli owner and Marcelo Bielsa are two men very set in their ways, and let’s not forget the Argentine’s last spell in Italy, which was a very brief one at Lazio.
This never seemed like something that should be taken seriously, and it’s fair to say Marchetti echoed all our thoughts: that the Leeds manager is very content at Elland Road, where his job is far from over.
