West Ham United midfielder Manuel Lanzini has admitted he doesn’t know what the future holds, as he gears up to leave the Hammers this summer.
That’s according to the player himself, who has insisted nothing is decided on his future yet as he celebrates success in the Europa Conference League first.
The Argentine midfielder is out of contract next month and looks set to end his time with West Ham at that point.
He’s been with them since a move from Al-Jazira in 2016 and made 226 appearances since that point, featuring regularly under a succession of managers since his arrival.
He’s found himself increasingly out of the picture this season under David Moyes, though, with new signings such as Lucas Paqueta and the likes of Pablo Fornals being preferred ahead of him.
He’s thus been linked with a move back to his homeland, with a possible return to River Plate, where he played as a youngster before his move to Al-Jazira in 2014, mooted on several occasions.
That’s yet to be decided according to the 30-year-old, who spoke to ESPN about the situation after West Ham’s win in the Conference League last night.
“It was a difficult year because I did not have the minutes I wanted,” he said, relayed by El Grafico.
“I know that there is a lot of talk about my return. I still haven’t thought anything about my future. I’m going to rest with my family and see what the future holds for me.
“Obviously one always returns to where he was happy, but the truth is I don’t know what I’m going to do, I don’t want to give River hope either, I hope it’s the best.”
