Real Betis president Ángel Haro has insisted he has no idea if Chelsea are looking to sign his sporting director Ramón Planes and reunite him with Mauricio Pochettino.
The president has been speaking after the club’s latest Shareholder’s Meeting, with his comments on various matters relayed by Mundo Deportivo.
One of the big subjects was the future of Planes, who yesterday found himself being linked with a move to Chelsea by Spanish outlet Mucho Deporte.
They explained that it was almost a given Planes would end up at Stamford Bridge in the near future if Pochettino remained as Chelsea manager moving forward.
According to them, the Argentine boss has a close, personal relationship with Planes after working with him at Espanyol and Tottenham and this could lead to Chelsea to look to pair them up once again.
The article was very much a speculative one covering the relationship between the pair but detailed how it would make sense for the Blues to make such a move if they were going to back Pochettino moving forwards.
Indeed, it presented the idea as pretty much a given, but it seems Haro is unaware of anything going on behind the scenes.
“What I talk to him about is that he is happy at Betis,” he said.
“The fact that he can receive offers means that he is doing very well here, so we must value the sports director we have. That does not mean that, like any professional, he can have offers, but it tells us he’s happy.
“I talk to him about a lot of things about the team, also about the future. I don’t know if he has offers or not; I don’t know of any formal and serious proposals, because he would sit down with us. He’s happy and wants to continue with us.”
